How To Rotate Kratom

Maintaining a Low Tolerance

If you plan to take kratom on a fairly regular basis, knowing how to rotate is imperative to maintaining potency.  If you rotate properly, you can maintain the powerful euphoric and energizing effects of kratom. If you don't, kratom will create subtle or non-existent effects which will lead to needing larger and larger doses overtime.

Rotating is crucial for those using kratom for chronic pain, as not doing so will result in it slowly losing its effectiveness overtime. You're still going to develop some tolerance (as it's impossible not to with consistent use of anything) but you can help keep it at a steady low level. I'm going to go over a few rotation rules and tips to help you make sure kratom works as well now as months or even years down the road.

Rotation Rules

There are many different strains of kratom on this earth. Rotating works by alternating the various types day by day which helps keep the receptors in your brain fresh. If you only use one strain everyday, you'll build up your tolerance quickly. Below are 3 necessary rules to follow to make sure your body doesn't easily adapt.

1. Rotate 7 Different Strains

- If you're on a budget or only want to dose kratom once or less per day, then 5 strains can work.

2. Only 1 Strain Per Day

- You can take it several times over, but don't switch it until the following day.

3. Alternate Types (slow/moderate/fast)

- Alternate between Fast, Moderate, & Slow. Any order but no duplicate days.
- If possible, try to have your strains be from different locations (for instance not all Indonesian). Having other Malay or Thai's helps
create more diversity in your rotation to help keep tolerance at bay.

Telling Types Apart

The first and main indication is from the country or province the kratom is from (also often shows it in the name).  Almost all strains from Thailand are fast (like Maeng Da), and most from Bali or Boreno are slow (usually named ‘Bali’). It's good to have these both (Maeng Da and Bali) in your rotation since most strains out there are moderate.

Another way to tell is the color (usually shows in the name). Different strains of kratom have different colored veins on the leaf.  The colors can be Red (Slow), Green (Moderate), or White (Fast). So a strain like ‘Green Kalimantan’ is a moderate strain from Kalimantan (Indonesia). The location is still the best indicator though, as odds are a 'Red Thai' strain would be Fast.

Some vendors actually organize the speed of their kratom on their site, which can help if you're unsure.

Creating A Schedule

It's a smart idea to plan out your kratom rotation. This way you make sure you have your fast energetic strains the days you go to the gym, and your slow euphoric strains on your lazy Sundays.  If you're someone who has a preference to either fast, moderate, or slow types, it's fine to customize your rotation to include a little more of your favorites. Following a new proper rotation schedule can even help the kratom veterans who have been already taking it for quite awhile. Always remember to stay hydrated and to take kratom at least a couple hours after your last meal. It may seem a bit overwhelming at first, but you'll be enjoying kratom right away and the process for getting the hang of it is fun.
