How To Take Kratom

Toss & Wash, Dosages and Tea

Whether you're planning to take kratom on a daily basis or just once in awhile, you need to find the way to take it that works best for you.

There are several different ways to take kratom, each with the potential to work very well. Although I prefer to take it through 'Toss & Wash', I know a lot or even most of you will prefer a different method. To help you find the best option, I'm going to go over the most popular methods along with the pros and cons of each one.  If you want to know more about kratom, check out my beginners guide here. Let's get to it!

Kratom Tea

Even though it's time consuming making kratom into a tea, it's one of the most popular methods. You can make kratom tea by actually putting it through a coffee maker or by boiling a few grams of kratom in water for 7 minutes then straining it. You end up having to use more since you're not digesting the powder, but it can taste much better. Some add lemon or honey, you can find kratom tea recipes online.

Toss & Wash

Quickest method, but most difficult to do properly. It's what I do and it takes me about 3 seconds to take 5 grams. What you do is toss a few grams in your mouth, take a sip of water (while the kratom is still in there), then mix it around in your mouth and swallow it. Kratom doesn't dissolve in water very well, so make sure you mix it around in your mouth well enough so it doesn't result like a cinnamon challenge. Maybe try 1 gram at a time on your first try.

Kratom Drinks

A fairly common method is just mixing kratom with a little bit of water and chasing with something to help the taste like juice or pop. Other people mix the juice together with kratom or even just add water flavoring like Mio. Not a bad idea to mix it with protein powder if you can get it to taste right, but avoid weight gainers as it will slow digestion. The one method that I hear a lot about but never tried is mixing kratom with yogurt, but that doesn't sound too tasty.

Capsules

Very popular option. The downside is it can be very time consuming, you have to take up to 10 caps/dose, and it's not cost effective (you have to pay for the capsule machine & caps). Some vendors sell kratom pre-capped, but it usually is an added cost. The upside is it becomes very easy to ingest kratom and to bring kratom anywhere (you can just toss a few caps in your wallet and you're set).

That's it! Remember there's no difference in the effects with each method- it's just different ways to manage the taste. Remember that a level teaspoon is equal to about 2 grams and to always take kratom on (or close to) an empty stomach. Either 2 or 3 hours after your last meal, or first thing in the morning after a small snack. If it's your first time trying kratom, it's best to play it safe and use 2 grams so you don't accidentally take too much and potentially become drowsy. You can always try again later on.  If you're looking for a vendor, my go-to source is HappyHippo for the US and KratomSensation for Canadians. I have specific strain recommendations at the bottom of my Kratom Guide. Cheers!
